Your Compaq PC is installed with recovery tools to enable you to 

restore data on your PC. Detailed instructions on how to use these 

recovery tools can be found in the Compaq documentation provided 

with your Computer.
The enclosed "Quick Restore" CDs will be required if the factory 

image on the D: partition of your hard drive has been deleted or 

damaged.

Caution Running the Quick Restore process will remove all existing 

data from your hard drive. Note: Running the Quick Restore process 

may take some time (on average, approximately 1 hour).
To run the Quick Restore process from Windows:
1) Eject the CD-ROM drive and insert the CD labelled CD 1.
2) Restart your computer by clicking the Start burton and then on 

Shut Down (in Windows XP, on Turn off computer). The Shut Down 

Windows/Turn off computer dialog box is displayed.
3) Select the Restart option and the computer will restart and 

display a Compaq Welcome screen.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions.

The Quick Restore CDs will also be required if you hard drive has 
been replaced or completely formatted. In this case:
1) Turn on the power to the computer.
2) Eject the CD-ROM drive and insert the CD labelled CD 1.
3) Restart the computer by pressing the keys Ctrl + Alt + Delete 
simultaneously.
4) After the unit has restarted you will see the Compaq Welcome 
screen. Follow the on-screen instructions.
